TAYFUN PİRSELİMOĞLU

After graduating from Middle East Technical University, he studied painting and ebcarving at the Fine Academy in Vienna. He held exhibitions in Istanbul, Vienna, New York, Budapest, Tallinn and participeted in multilateral exhibitions.

He is also a writer and his first novel " Çöl Masalları" ( Desert Tales ) was published in 1996. His second novel " Kayıp Şahıslar Albümü" ( The Album of Lost People ) will published in 2002.





Since 1985, he has been intensly engaged in cinema; his articles on cinema and literature were published in various periodicals.

He wrote various scripts for some awarded films, such as; Hotel ( short film ) directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu; Montpellier Film Festival 1994 Best Film Award

Once Upon a Time in the East ( short film ) directed by Sibel Voskay Larissa Film Festival 1998; Special Mention

Trace ( long feature ) directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu; Istanbul Film Festival Best Film Award in 1995, Cologne Turkish Film Festival Best Film Award in 1995

Tayfun Pirselimoğlu also prepared the project and wrote the script of Journey to the Sun (formerly X) directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu. This Film was Awarded with two prizes in Berlin Film Festival in 1999. Pirselimoğlu also wrote various film and TV series scripts for television.

Tayfun Pirselimoğlu shot his first short film Dayım ( My Uncle ) in 1999.

Dayım joined various film festivals such as; Venice, Bilbao, Montpellier, Angers, Drama etc.. Dayım won also various international prizes such as, 7 Capalbio Film Festival 2000; Best Film and Best Photography Award, Milan Street Film Festival 2000; Best Film Award, 12 Girona Film Festival; Special Jury Award

In December 2001, he finished a short film named "Sukut altındır" (Silence is gold) in Italy.
